Red River Campground is a rustic Forest Service campground situated along Red River in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests of Idaho County. Located approximately five miles west of Red River Hot Springs, the campground provides a quiet base for exploring the surrounding national forest. The campground features individual sites equipped with picnic tables and metal fire rings. Vault toilets service the camping area, and drinking water is available via a hand pump. The facility operates on a pack-in, pack-out basis with no garbage services. Sites cost $12 per night with an additional $3 fee for extra vehicles. Interagency Senior and Access passes provide a 50% discount on the base camping fee. Access requires driving south on Red River-Dixie Road #222 from State Highway 14, continuing past the closed Red River Ranger Station to the junction with Red River Hot Springs Road #234, then traveling east for approximately 4 miles. While the campground is open year-round, winter access may be restricted by snow. Larger RVs should preview the site before entering as maneuvering space is limited.

Directions

From State Highway 14, turn south onto Red River-Dixie Road #222. Follow Road #222 to Red River Ranger Station (now closed) and its junction with Red River Hot Springs Road #234. Turn east on Road #234 and continue approximately 4 miles to the campground.
