About

Located in Sussex County, Delaware, Trap Pond State Park is home to the northernmost natural stand of bald cypress trees on the East Coast. The campground features 142 spacious sites spread across multiple loops, offering a variety of camping options from traditional tent sites to RV sites with hookups, plus modern amenities including cabins and yurts. Loops A, B, C, and D provide electric and water hookups for RVs, while tent sites are nestled under tall trees throughout the park. The campground provides modern facilities including centralized bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Within each camping loop, visitors will find restrooms, showers, and at least one pier useful for fishing or launching kayaks and small watercraft. The park's unique baldcypress swamp environment offers nearly nine miles of kayak and canoe trails, making it a paddler's paradise. Additional recreational opportunities include fishing for crappie, pickerel, and catfish, hiking and biking on miles of natural trails, and exploring the nature center and Barnes Woods Nature Preserve. Boat rentals including canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats are available seasonally. The park's diverse wetland ecosystem provides exceptional wildlife viewing and nature photography opportunities year-round.
