Oceanside Group Campground provides a unique group camping experience on Assateague Island, a 37-mile barrier island known for its free-roaming wild horses. The five tent-only group sites are designed for organized clubs and affiliated groups, requiring a minimum of 7 and maximum of 25 campers per site. Sites are walk-in style, located 100-200 feet from the centralized parking area, with a limit of 10 vehicles per group. Each site includes multiple picnic tables and fire rings with grills. Campground facilities include vault toilets available year-round, potable drinking water, and cold outdoor showers for rinsing off sand (seasonal, mid-March through mid-November). A dump station, seasonal camp store, and firewood sales are available in the campground area. All food must be stored in hard-sided latching containers due to wildlife, and campers should maintain a 40-foot distance from the island's famous wild horses. The campground's location on the Atlantic Ocean provides direct beach access for swimming, fishing, and wildlife observation. The constantly shifting barrier island ecosystem supports diverse shorebirds, marine life, and the iconic Assateague horses. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 6 AM, and camping is limited to 14 consecutive nights.
