Bayside Drive-in Campground sits along Sinepuxent Bay on Assateague Island National Seashore's Maryland district, offering a more sheltered camping experience than the oceanside campground. The 49 standard nonelectric sites are distributed across three loops: Loop A (sites A01-A24), Loop B (sites B25-B37, where generators are prohibited 24/7), and Loop C (sites C38-C49). Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground accommodates tents, trailers, and RVs up to 45 feet. Amenities include vault toilets available year-round, seasonal cold water showers for rinsing off sand (mid-March through mid-November), potable water, a dump station, and a seasonal camp store selling firewood and ice. Food storage lockers are provided due to the presence of wild horses that roam freely through the campground. Pets are permitted on leash but prohibited on lifeguarded beaches, backcountry areas, and nature trails. The bay location offers calmer waters for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing, while the Atlantic beaches are a short drive or bike ride away. Campers frequently encounter Assateague's famous wild horses, which have roamed the island for centuries. Reservations through Recreation.gov are required March 15 through November 15; the campground operates first-come, first-served from November 16 through March 14.
