About
Bayside Drive-in Campground is located on the bay side of Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland, offering 22 developed campsites suitable for tents, trailers, and recreational vehicles. The campground operates year-round with no electric, water, or sewer hookups at individual sites. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Sites are $40 per night, with discounted rates available for Senior Pass and Access Pass holders.
The campground is divided into Loops A, B, and C. Generators are not permitted in Loop B. Maximum RV and trailer length is 45 feet. Amenities include vault toilets available year-round, seasonal cold showers, potable water, a dump station, and seasonal services like firewood and ice sales. A camp store operates seasonally. All visitors must purchase firewood locally; out-of-state firewood is prohibited.
Advance reservations are required from March 15 through November 15 and are available starting 6 months in advance via Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Weekend reservations during peak season typically fill immediately when released. From November 16 through March 14, reservations are available but not required. A separate vehicle entrance fee of $25 applies for 1-7 days of park access. The campground provides access to Assateague Island's beaches, wildlife viewing including the famous wild ponies, and barrier island ecosystems.
