About

Cape Henlopen State Park campground is located along Delaware's Atlantic coast near Lewes, occupying a portion of the park's extensive 7,000-acre protected area. The campground underwent significant renovations to modernize its facilities and improve the camping experience. Sites now feature water and electric hookups with 30-, 50-, and 100-amp service options, new fire rings, and picnic tables. The campground includes both RV sites with pull-through options and walk-in tent sites to accommodate different camping preferences. Facilities include modern bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, a camp store for provisions, laundry facilities, multiple dump stations, and a playground. The campground operates with a one-way vehicle circulation pattern to improve traffic flow and safety. While sites do not have individual sewer hookups, the convenient dump stations make waste disposal straightforward. The park itself offers exceptional recreational opportunities with six miles of Atlantic coastline, two designated swimming beaches with seasonal lifeguard patrols, a 24-hour fishing pier, extensive hiking and biking trails, disc golf, kayaking, and bird watching. Historic areas and nature trails provide educational experiences, while the coastal dunes and maritime forest create diverse habitats for wildlife. The location near Lewes offers convenient access to coastal Delaware attractions while maintaining a natural park setting.
