About
Trace State Park is a 2,500-acre recreation area centered on 565-acre Trace Lake, named for the nearby historic Natchez Trace trail. The campground sits in the Pontotoc Ridge region of northeast Mississippi, roughly equidistant between Tupelo and Pontotoc.
The developed campground features 76 RV sites with full hookups including 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. Each site includes a picnic table and grill, with most featuring fire rings. Three modern bathhouses provide hot showers and restrooms, and a coin-operated laundromat offers convenient amenities. A central dump station serves the campground. Primitive tent camping is also available at 16 sites.
Beyond camping, the park offers fishing and boating on Trace Lake, 35 miles of multi-use trails for mountain biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicles, two 18-hole disc golf courses, and the Jason M. Stewart Nature Trail. Cabins and cottages are available for those preferring more amenities.
Directions
From Tupelo, head west on MS Highway 6 for approximately 9 miles. From Pontotoc, head east on MS Highway 6 for approximately 8 miles. Watch for park signs on Highway 6 directing you to turn onto Faulkner Road; the park entrance is about 2 miles down Faulkner Road.
