About

Trace State Park Campground provides a quiet outdoor escape just 7 miles west of Tupelo in north Mississippi. The campground features 76 developed RV sites with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. Each site includes a picnic table and grill, and most have fire rings. Three modern bathhouses with hot showers serve the camping areas, along with a coin-operated laundromat and central dump station. The Deer Run Campground area includes a dedicated playground for overnight campers. For tent campers, the park offers 11 primitive sites along Trace Lake and 5 additional sites deeper in the woods, all available first-come, first-served. Tent camping is also permitted in the developed campground at regular rates. The park's 565-acre Trace Lake provides excellent fishing for bass, catfish, redear, bluegill, and crappie, with two boat ramps available. Water skiing is permitted year-round on the designated skiing side of the lake. Recreational opportunities extend well beyond the water with two professional 18-hole disc golf courses, over 17 miles of nature and mountain biking trails, and a vast 35-mile network of combined-use trails for ORVs, mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrian users. The park also features two playgrounds, picnic sites, a large pavilion for group events, and kayak rentals. Historically significant as a former home of Davy Crockett, who lived here as a horse trader with the Chickasaw Indians before departing for the Alamo.
