About

Davis Lake Campground is situated in the rolling hills of Tombigbee National Forest in northeastern Mississippi, surrounding a scenic 200-acre lake. The 26 campsites are located in mixed hardwood and pine forest along the eastern shore, with electric and water hookups available at each site. Many sites have direct lake access with space to anchor boats. The recreation area includes a grassy swimming beach, boat ramp, 16 land fishing piers, 3 wooden piers, 32 picnic sites with tables and grills, one group shelter, 2 bathhouses with flush toilets and showers, and a dump station. Recreational opportunities are abundant. A 2-mile trail wanders along the north edge of the lake connecting to several earthen fishing piers, where anglers pursue largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, catfish, and bream. The lake supports both motorized and non-motorized boating. Birders can watch for migratory geese and ducks, along with hawks, herons, bluebirds, and doves. Wildlife including foxes and bobcats inhabit the area. The campground is located within 4 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway, a scenic 444-mile historic drive. Nearby attractions include the Owl Creek Mounds archaeological site (0.5 miles south), the 12-mile Chickasaw OHV Trail (3 miles away, open April 1 through October 31), the 18-mile Witchdance Horse Trail, and the 43.5-mile Tanglefoot Rails-to-Trails path (5 miles west) running from Houston to New Albany through several Mississippi towns.
