About
Cherokee Picnic Shelter is a day-use pavilion facility, not an overnight campground. Located within the Jamie L. Whitten recreation area on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway near Fulton, Mississippi, the shelter serves as a group gathering space for picnics and events.
The pavilion is equipped with 8 picnic tables, 1 grill, 4 trash cans, and 2 extra benches. Restroom facilities are available but close seasonally from November 15 through March 1. The shelter is part of the larger Jamie L. Whitten recreation complex, which offers boating, fishing, a disc golf course, and walking trails.
For overnight camping, visitors should instead look at nearby Whitten Park Campground (also called Fulton Campground), which offers 60 sites with electric and water hookups, showers, playgrounds, fishing docks, and a sandy swimming beach.
