Town Creek Campground occupies a thickly forested, sloping shoreline on Columbus Lake, part of the 234-mile Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway connecting the Tennessee River to the Gulf of Mexico. The campground offers 100 standard electric sites with both 30 and 50 amp service plus water hookups, each equipped with picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and lantern posts. An additional 10 primitive tent-only sites line the shore of Kennedy Lake, located on the hill overlooking the Tombigbee. Recreation centers on the water. Anglers can fish from the dock or launch boats to pursue bass, catfish, and crappie. Kennedy Lake features a stone waterfall and a meandering creek, with a nature trail circling the lake via wooden footbridges. Three playgrounds serve families, and the nearby cities of Columbus and West Point provide shopping, restaurants, and golf. Facilities include hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, laundry, and a boat ramp. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 80 feet. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov; walk-up reservations are not accepted at the gate house. Gate hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with check-in at 4 p.m. and check-out at 3 p.m.

Directions

From Columbus, Mississippi, take Highway 45 north to the junction with Highway 50. Turn left and follow Highway 50 west past the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway bridge. Two miles west of the bridge, turn north onto Town Creek Road and follow the signs.
