About
Blue Bluff Picnic Area takes its name from the beautiful clay and limestone cliffs that border the site, rising 80 feet above Aberdeen Lake on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. This is a day-use facility only, not an overnight campground. The area provides three rentable picnic shelters, each equipped with water, electricity, and picnic tables, designed for group events like family reunions and birthday celebrations. The surrounding woods feature walking trails where visitors can enjoy scenic overlooks of the waterway and observe wildlife including deer, various bird species, and squirrels. The nearby Aberdeen Lock and Dam offers scheduled tours where visitors can watch barges and recreational boats pass through. The town of Aberdeen is just minutes away, and Tupelo, birthplace of Elvis Presley, is approximately 45 minutes north.
Directions
From Highway 45 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, travel to the intersection of Commerce and Meridian Streets in the downtown area. From Commerce, turn north on Meridian and cross a railroad track and a bridge. The recreation area is the first right turn after the bridge.
