Blue Bluff Campground and Recreation Area occupies one of the most scenic locations on the 234-mile Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, situated on Aberdeen Lake just north of the town of Aberdeen. The campground takes its name from the striking clay and limestone bluffs that rise 80 feet above the eastern shore, providing commanding views of the lake and the adjacent lock and dam operations. The facility offers 92 campsites, all equipped with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, fire rings with grills, pedestal grills, and lantern posts. Most sites are shaded and many offer scenic waterway views. The campground operates year-round with reservations available through Recreation.gov, with gates open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Recreational opportunities are abundant. Families can swim at the sandy beach, fish from the accessible dock or by boat for bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, and sunfish, or explore the wooded waterfront trails. The adjacent Aberdeen Lock and Dam offers tours where visitors can watch commercial barges and recreational boats navigate the lock system. The town of Aberdeen, minutes away, provides additional amenities and attractions, while Tupelo, the birthplace of Elvis Presley, is 45 minutes north.

Directions

From Highway 45 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, travel to the intersection of Commerce and Meridian Streets in the downtown area. From Commerce turn north on Meridian and cross a railroad track and a bridge. The recreation area is the first right turn after the bridge.
