About

Located in the Aska Area of the Chattahoochee National Forest, Toccoa River Sandy Bottoms Group Campground provides a rustic riverside camping experience along one of north Georgia's premier paddling destinations. The campground sits at the terminus of the 13.8-mile Toccoa River Canoe Trail and offers direct river access for fishing, swimming, and canoe/kayak take-out. The facility features two tent-only group sites with riverfront proximity, shaded settings, and parallel-entry driveways. Amenities are minimal by design: a single vault toilet serves the group sites, but there is no potable water, electricity, or hookups. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply and plan to pack out trash. Campfires are permitted in grills only. Nearby attractions include the Benton MacKaye Trail crossing at Shallowford Bridge, as well as the Appalachian Trail, Aska Trails, and Cooper Creek Trails within a 30-minute drive. The mountain town of Blue Ridge offers restaurants, craft breweries, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, and Mercier Orchards. Cooper Creek Store, located about half a mile from the campground on Highway 60, carries camping supplies.
