PADENA DISPERSED AREA

Open — Open year-round for dispersed camping on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations available.

About

Padena Dispersed Area provides free primitive camping opportunities in the Chattahoochee National Forest within the Blue Ridge Ranger District in Fannin County, Georgia. As a dispersed camping area, this site offers a more rugged camping experience with no developed facilities or amenities. Visitors must be completely self-sufficient and follow Leave No Trace principles. The area operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations possible. Campers are required to pack-it-in and pack-it-out, meaning all trash and waste must be removed. There are no toilets, water sources, picnic tables, fire rings, or other typical campground amenities. Visitors should bring all necessary supplies including water, and be prepared for primitive conditions. Dispersed camping in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests follows standard Forest Service regulations. Campers typically must stay at least 100 feet from water sources and established trails. Campfires may be restricted during high fire danger periods, so checking current conditions before arrival is recommended. The area provides access to the natural beauty of North Georgia's mountains and forests for those seeking a more remote camping experience.
