About

Jones Creek Dispersed Area is a primitive camping destination located in the Blue Ridge Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest in Lumpkin County, Georgia. This secluded area offers approximately 8-10 designated dispersed camping sites situated along Jones Creek and accessible via Forest Service Road 77A. The area is known for its natural beauty, featuring access to Jones Creek Falls and excellent wild brown trout fishing opportunities in the restored stream. Camping is restricted to designated sites within the Jones Creek dispersed recreation area per Forest Supervisor's Order. The sites are primitive with no developed amenities, requiring campers to be self-sufficient. Access roads can be rough and may require high-clearance vehicles, particularly after rain. The area provides a truly secluded camping experience for those seeking solitude in the North Georgia mountains, with opportunities for fishing, hiking, and exploring nearby waterfalls. Campers should note that this is dispersed camping with no facilities whatsoever. All trash must be packed out, and campers must bring their own water or treat creek water. Dead and downed wood may be used for campfires when fire danger is low. The 14-day stay limit within any 30-day period applies to all dispersed camping in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest.
