Tipsu Tyee Campground offers a secluded camping experience along the shore of Applegate Lake in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. This primitive campground is accessible only by foot via the 1.25-mile Payette Trail #970 from Squaw Arm Parking Area, or by boat across Applegate Lake. The hike-in nature of the campground ensures a quiet, low-use experience ideal for campers seeking solitude. The campground features 5 tent sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water on-site and no garbage service, so campers must pack out all trash. The location provides excellent access to lake activities including boating, fishing, and swimming, as well as hiking opportunities along the Payette Trail system. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no fees or reservations. Quiet hours are enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and campfires are only permitted in the developed fire pits. Dogs are allowed but must be on leash, and OHV/ATV use is prohibited. The maximum stay is 14 consecutive days.

Directions

From Jacksonville, OR, travel south on Highway 238 to Ruch, OR, and turn left onto Upper Applegate Road. Continue about 15 miles to Applegate Lake and turn left on County Road 959 (crossing the dam). Continue along County Road 959 about 3 miles and turn right onto Forest Road 100. Continue about 0.5 mile to Squaw Arm Parking Area. Hike about 1.25 miles west along Payette Trail #970 to the campground. Alternatively, access by boat across Applegate Lake.
