Air Quality Alert issued July 17 at 12:08PM PDT by NWS Medford OR
Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory...in effect until noon PDT Monday. Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels. Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather. People at risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant people. People can take the following precautions to protect their health: * Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality. * Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during periods of poor air quality. * People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while smoke levels are high. * Use certified High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in indoor heating, ventilation, cooling and air purification systems. * Avoid using wood-burning stoves and other sources of indoor smoke if possible. About
Tipsu Tyee Campground offers a secluded backcountry camping experience on the shore of Applegate Lake in Oregon's Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. This primitive campground is accessible only by foot via the Payette Trail #970 or by boat, making it an ideal destination for those seeking solitude away from road-accessible sites. The campground features five tent-only sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. There is no garbage service; all trash must be packed out. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis year-round. Quiet hours are observed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and campfires are permitted only in the developed fire pits. Dogs are welcome but must remain leashed. The maximum stay is 14 days. The nearby Harr Ridge Trail begins at the campground and offers excellent views of Applegate Lake and the surrounding mountains.
