Jackson Campground occupies a prime location on the shores of the Applegate River in the Applegate Valley, surrounded by the diverse landscapes of Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The campground features 8 tent-only sites, 3 dry RV sites, and 1 group site accommodating up to 20 people, all situated along the river. The Applegate River provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking throughout the warmer months. The campground serves as a gateway to exploring the unique Siskiyou Mountains region, known for its complex plant communities and biological diversity. Nearby trails lead to the world's only known Bigfoot trap, an inactive structure built in 1974 that has become a popular curiosity. The Red Buttes Wilderness Area lies to the south, while Applegate Lake is just minutes away with an 18-mile shoreline trail. Historic Jacksonville and the Britt Festival are nearby attractions, and Crater Lake National Park is within reach for day trips. Note that camp trailers are not recommended due to tight corners and short campsite spur lengths. The facility is operated under special-use permit by Aztoor LLC and features on-site camp hosts, flush toilets, and drinking water, though no showers are available. Two-night minimum stays are required when reserving Friday or Saturday nights.

Directions

From Jacksonville, travel south 6.5 miles on Highway 238 to Ruch, and turn left onto Upper Applegate Road. Continue approximately 7 miles to the campground near mile marker 9.
