Timber Creek Reservoir Upper Campground is located in the Lemhi Range of Salmon-Challis National Forest, west of Leadore, Idaho. This small primitive campground sits near Timber Creek Reservoir and offers a remote mountain camping experience. The area is characterized by forested terrain in the Beaverhead Mountains, with opportunities for fishing in the reservoir and exploring the surrounding backcountry. Access requires traveling west from Leadore on Lee Creek Road, then taking Forest Service Road 105 toward Big Timber Creek for approximately 7.5 miles, followed by Forest Service Road 172 to reach the upper reservoir campground. The remote location and forest road access make this a destination for campers seeking solitude and primitive camping. The campground features basic amenities including picnic tables and fire rings at individual sites, along with vault toilets. Like other campgrounds in the Leadore Ranger District, this is a seasonal facility that typically operates during summer months when forest roads are passable.

Directions

From Leadore, travel west on Lee Creek Road for 0.9 miles. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 105 toward Big Timber Creek and continue for 7.5 miles to a junction. Take the right fork onto Forest Service Road 172 and travel 1 mile to a fork. Take the left fork and continue 0.5 miles to Timber Creek Reservoir Upper Campground.
