About

Timber Creek Reservoir Upper Campground sits at approximately 7,000 feet elevation in Idaho's remote Lemhi Range, offering a quiet backcountry camping experience in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The campground features 6 sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring, spread along the upper end of Timber Creek Reservoir. A vault toilet serves the campground, and potable water is typically available during the operating season. The reservoir and nearby Hawley Creek provide good fishing opportunities. The area is popular with anglers and those seeking solitude away from more developed campgrounds. A lower campground with 4 additional sites is also located at the reservoir. Access requires navigating a series of forest roads from US-93, making this a destination best suited for those comfortable with remote, minimally developed camping. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations available.
