Located in the remote backcountry of the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Timber Creek Campground provides a peaceful wooded setting for campers seeking a primitive experience. The campground features 12 campsites positioned between two flowing creeks, creating a serene natural atmosphere. Equestrian visitors will appreciate the horse hitch rail and unloading ramp, making this a suitable destination for horseback riding adventures. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Timber Creek ATV trail system and nearby Mill Creek Lake. Anglers can fish in the adjacent creeks, while the surrounding forest offers opportunities for wildlife viewing and scenic exploration. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. At $5 per night, it offers budget-friendly camping with basic amenities including vault toilets. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply as no potable water is available on-site. The remote location accessed via a series of forest roads provides solitude and a true backcountry camping experience.

Directions

From Mackay, take US Highway 93 south 7 miles to Pass Creek Road. Turn left and follow 28 miles to Little Lost/Pahsimeroi Road. Turn left, go 0.2 miles to Sawmill Canyon Road. Turn right, follow to Timber Creek Road. Turn left on Timber Creek Road, then left on Timber Creek Campground Road to reach the campground.
