About

Timber Creek Campground is a secluded 12-site primitive campground nestled in a forested setting within the Salmon-Challis National Forest in Lemhi County, Idaho. Two creeks flow on either side of the campground, providing a peaceful atmosphere for campers seeking solitude in the backcountry. The campground is particularly well-suited for equestrian users, with a horse hitch rail and unloading ramp on-site. Nearby recreation opportunities include Mill Creek Lake for fishing and the Timber Creek ATV trail for off-road enthusiasts. The remote location requires a lengthy drive on forest roads from either Mackay or Arco. Facilities are minimal, with one ADA-accessible vault toilet. No potable water is available on-site, so campers must bring their own water supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with self-registration at the fee station.
