About

Mill Creek Trailhead & Campground is a rustic 6-site campground located in a wooded setting along Mill Creek in the Lost River Region of Salmon-Challis National Forest. The campground primarily serves as a trailhead for the Mill Creek Trail (#4082), a 7.7-mile non-motorized route leading to Mill Creek Lake and Firebox Meadows. Facilities are basic: one accessible vault toilet, a hitching rail for stock animals, and an unloading ramp for horse trailers. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The remote location and equestrian facilities make this an ideal base camp for backcountry horse packing trips. Recreation opportunities include day hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, fishing in Mill Creek and Mill Creek Lake, wildlife viewing, and scenic drives through the surrounding high desert and mountain terrain.
