About

Hawley Creek Upper Campground sits in the Leadore region of the Salmon-Challis National Forest, offering a quiet backcountry experience with no fees. The campground features 6 rustic campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are available on-site. Water availability is seasonal and may not be operational during all open periods. The campground serves as a base for fishing Hawley Creek and the nearby reservoir, as well as accessing the challenging Hawley Creek Trail. This steep trail climbs over 1,000 feet in less than 2 miles before connecting with a spur to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. The upper portions of the trail open into scenic grasslands. ATVs and motorcycles are permitted on the trail but not off-trail. Visitors must pack out all trash as no services are provided.
