About

Reservoir Creek Campground is a small, primitive camping area in the Salmon-Challis National Forest, offering 2 campsites in a remote mountain setting. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, providing basic amenities for backcountry camping. The campground features a vault toilet but has no potable water or garbage collection, requiring campers to be self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles by packing out all trash. The campground's location in the Bitterroot Range makes it an ideal base for hikers looking to explore rugged mountain terrain. Trail #192 begins at the campground and leads through steep, challenging landscape characteristic of this remote corner of Idaho. The setting offers solitude and access to the wild character of the Lemhi County backcountry. Access requires traveling on county roads and Forest Road 275 from Leadore, making this a destination for those seeking a primitive camping experience away from developed facilities. The no-fee campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is typically accessible from mid-May through the fall, weather and road conditions permitting.

Directions

From Leadore, go 0.25 mile east on ID 29, turn right onto Hawley Creek Road and go 9 miles, then take a left on Forest Road 275 and go 5 miles east. Turn left into the campground.
