About
Tillie Creek Campground is nestled among oak trees on the northeast shore of Lake Isabella, a 11,000-acre reservoir that divides the Upper and Lower Kern Rivers. This large developed campground offers 159 individual family sites and four group sites that can accommodate parties from 60 to 150 guests. The facility serves as a hub for water recreation on one of California's largest reservoirs, with swimming, water skiing, windsurfing, and fishing being primary activities. The campground sits at 2,680 feet elevation and provides amenities including flush toilets, hand-pump drinking water, fire rings with grills, picnic tables, a playground, fish cleaning station, amphitheater for programs, and a dump station. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 45 feet, though no hookups are available. A marina and boat ramps are located just south of the campground. Lake Isabella offers excellent fishing opportunities, with trout during colder months and year-round populations of largemouth bass, black and white crappie, bluegill, and catfish. The campground provides a convenient base for exploring Sequoia National Park, the Trail of a Hundred Giants, and giant sequoia groves in the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Free interpretive programs are offered Saturday mornings during summer months. The town of Lake Isabella, 6 miles south, provides supplies and services.
Directions
From Bakersfield, take Highway 178 east to the town of Lake Isabella. From Lake Isabella, take Highway 155 north for 6 miles to the Tillie Creek Campground entry station.
