About
Hungry Gulch Campground sits on a pine-covered hillside at 2,640 feet elevation, approximately 3 miles from the western shores of Lake Isabella in the Sequoia National Forest. The campground features 78 individual family campsites, many with distant views of the lake. The facility is operated by Rocky Mountain Recreation under a concessionaire permit. Lake Isabella offers over 11,000 acres of water recreation including swimming, waterskiing, windsurfing, and fishing for black and white crappie, bluegill, catfish, largemouth bass, and rainbow trout. Hiking opportunities are available around the lake and along the nearby Kern River. The campground provides a convenient base for exploring the southern Sierra Nevada region. The facility includes flush toilets, drinking water from hand pumps, picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills. A playground is available for families. The maximum RV and trailer length is 30 feet, and hookups are not available. The camp host is located at Boulder Gulch Campground across the street. Supplies can be obtained in the nearby town of Lake Isabella, about 3 miles away.
Directions
From Bakersfield, take Highway 178 to the town of Lake Isabella. From Lake Isabella, take Highway 155 North approximately 4 miles to the campground. The campground is accessible via paved roads.
