Camp 9 Recreation Area

About

Camp 9 Recreation Area is a large lakeside campground on the shores of Lake Isabella, a high desert reservoir at 2,600 feet elevation in Sequoia National Forest. The campground accommodates a mix of tent campers and RVers with 109 single sites available first-come, first-served and 11 group sites reservable through Recreation.gov. Its proximity to both the lake and Upper Kern River makes it popular among boaters, rafters, and anglers. The facility is well-suited for RVs with ample parking to accommodate trailers and motorized watercraft. A courtesy dock for launching is available in the day use area when water levels permit. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water from hand pumps, picnic tables, a fish cleaning station, and an RV dump station. No hookups are available at any sites. Mornings at the lake tend to be quiet and calm, while afternoon breezes are common in spring and early summer. Shade is limited throughout the campground. Campfires are only permitted in designated fire rings with a valid California Campfire Permit, and may be prohibited during high fire danger. A glass container ban is in effect for all food and beverages in the Lake Isabella area.
