About
Boulder Gulch Campground is nestled in the foothills of the high desert within Giant Sequoia National Monument, offering easy access to the recreational opportunities of Lake Isabella. At 2,650 feet elevation, the campground provides 78 paved campsites that can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs up to 45 feet in length. The facility includes flush toilets, potable water, a fish cleaning station, playground, and picnic tables at each site. Campfires are permitted with a valid campfire permit, which can be obtained at local ranger stations or online at preventwildfireca.org. A Giant Sequoia Mercantile on-site offers supplies, books, maps, and gifts. Lake Isabella covers over 11,000 acres on the Kern River with 38 miles of shoreline, making it ideal for trout and bass fishing, motorized and non-motorized boating, windsurfing, swimming, and water skiing. Hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking trails are also available in the surrounding area.
Directions
From Highway 99 in Bakersfield, California, take Highway 178 east to the town of Lake Isabella. Take Highway 155 around the west side of Lake Isabella for 4 miles to the campground entrance.
