About
Live Oak Group Campground is located in Sequoia National Forest, just across the road from Lake Isabella, approximately 6 miles north of the town of Lake Isabella via Highway 155. The campground features one large group site that can accommodate up to 150 people and a combination of 30 vehicles and RVs, making it ideal for large gatherings and events. Situated in a scenic grove of oak trees at approximately 2,500 feet elevation, the site includes picnic tables and fire rings. Lake Isabella, an 11,000-acre reservoir at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada range, provides excellent opportunities for boating, windsurfing, fishing, and swimming. The lake is known for trout fishing during colder months, as well as black and white crappie, bluegill, catfish, and largemouth bass. A boat launch is located approximately one mile from the campground. The campground serves as a good base for day trips to nearby attractions including Sequoia National Park, the Trail of a Hundred Giants, and numerous sequoia groves within Giant Sequoia National Monument. The town of Kernville is just 5 miles away and offers supplies and services. The campground is managed by ExplorUs under a concessionaire permit with the Forest Service.
Directions
From Bakersfield, take Highway 178 east to the town of Lake Isabella. From Lake Isabella take Highway 155 north approximately 6 miles to Live Oak Group Campground.
