About

Tillicum Campground is a higher elevation, wooded campground in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest that draws visitors especially during huckleberry season due to the abundance of huckleberry bushes throughout the area. The campground offers 15 basic campsites with picnic tables and fire pits, serving as a popular base for berry pickers and hikers. Tillicum Trail #21 leads directly from the campground into the surrounding forest. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no advance reservations available. Sites cost $10 per night and can be paid with cash, check, or via the Recreation.gov Scan and Pay system. Maximum vehicle length is 18 feet due to the rutted road conditions, which are best navigated with high clearance vehicles. There is no potable water available, so visitors must bring their own. Vault toilets are provided but there are no hookups, electricity, or showers. The campground typically operates from May through September, though exact dates vary by season and snow conditions. Cell phone reception is poor at this remote location. Pets are allowed but must be kept on leash, and quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
