Lewis River Horse Camp is a rustic equestrian campground located in the Lewis River Recreation Area of Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The facility features nine campsites, each equipped with a highline for stock, and provides access to the Quartz Creek Trail and Lewis River Trail for mixed-use riding. A stock-only water trough is available for animals, but potable water is not provided for human use. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis from May through mid-October. Overnight fees are $15 per night for a single site with an additional $5 fee for extra vehicles. Interagency Senior and Access passes provide a 50% discount on the base campsite fee. Payment can be made by cash, check, or through the Recreation.gov Scan and Pay app. Facilities include vault toilets but no electricity or hookups. Cell phone reception is poor throughout the area. Adjacent to the campground, Platinum Creek Trailhead offers 16 day-use parking spaces, which require advance reservations through Recreation.gov during summer months (June 15 through September 6). Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Directions

From Cougar, Washington, drive east on Forest Road 90 past Lower Falls Campground to Forest Road 93. Turn left on Forest Road 93 and go 1/8 mile to the horse camp on the right.
