About
Falls Creek Horse Camp is a small, free equestrian campground nestled in an attractively wooded area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Skamania County, Washington. Managed by the Mt. Adams Ranger District, the camp features highlines at each site for securing horses. The campground and roads are gravel throughout, with narrow interior roads and tight turns that limit access for larger vehicles. The primary draw of this camp is its proximity to Indian Heaven Wilderness. Race Track Trail #171 departs directly across Forest Road 65 from the campground, providing equestrians with access to the wilderness area. A free, self-issued wilderness permit is required when entering Indian Heaven Wilderness and can be obtained at the trailhead. Falls Creek Trail #152 also terminates at this location. Facilities are basic: vault toilets are available but there is no drinking water on site, so campers must bring their own supply. Quiet hours are observed from 10pm to 6am. The campground requires no fees or reservations.
Directions
From Carson, WA follow Wind River Hwy (Forest Road 30) north for about 5 miles to Forest Road 65 (turn right onto Old State Road and take the 1st left onto Forest Road 65/Panther Creek Road). Continue to follow Forest Road 65 for about 13 miles to Falls Creek Horse Camp. The camp is located adjacent to Forest Road 65.
