About
Forlorn Lakes Campground sits among a cluster of small scenic lakes in the southern Gifford Pinchot National Forest, near the Indian Heaven Wilderness. The 25 campsites are dispersed around the wooded shorelines, offering a peaceful setting for tent camping and small RVs or campers up to 18 feet. Swimming and fishing are available in the larger lakes. The campground is especially popular during huckleberry season when the surrounding bushes produce abundant berries. Sites fill early in the week during peak season. A day use area provides lake views, picnic tables, and fire rings. Nearby East Crater Trailhead offers access into Indian Heaven Wilderness, which requires a free self-issued wilderness permit. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets but no potable water. Campers should bring their own drinking water. There is no electricity and cell phone reception is poor or nonexistent. Payment is by cash, check, or digital scan-and-pay.
