About
Lower Falls Campground sits in a pleasantly wooded setting on the Lewis River in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The 43 campsites are tucked among large evergreen trees, creating a sense of seclusion. A trailhead for Lewis River Trail #31 is located within the campground, offering a multi-use route for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding that follows the river through old-growth forest past several striking waterfalls. The Lewis River provides catch-and-release fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, and bull trout, as well as whitefish. Kayaking is also popular. Falls viewing opportunities include Lower Lewis River Falls, Curly Creek Falls, Big Creek Falls, and Middle Falls, all within 15 minutes of the campground. The campground road is paved and shaded. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Drinking water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets are provided. No hookups, showers, or electricity are available, and cell phone reception is poor. Forest Road 90 leading to the campground has rough sections with potholes; high-clearance vehicles are recommended.
