About

The Pines Campground offers a quiet, no-fee camping experience in Jefferson National Forest's Craig County. Set in a wooded area along Barbour's Creek, the campground appeals to anglers seeking Virginia's stocked trout waters and to those wanting a rustic retreat from more developed facilities. The campground is designed primarily for tent camping, though small recreation vehicles can be accommodated. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water on site, so campers must bring their own supply. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Nearby Potts Mountain Jeep Road offers some of the most challenging 4-wheeling terrain in Virginia, making this an ideal base camp for off-road enthusiasts. The surrounding national forest provides ample opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and exploring the Appalachian backcountry.
