About
Blue Meadow is a group campground situated in a pleasant, wooded valley along Anthony Creek at an elevation of 1,860 feet in the Monongahela National Forest. The campground contains 17 campsites, including 4 walk-in sites, each equipped with picnic tables, grills, and lantern posts. When the group site has not been reserved, individual campsites 1-17 may be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis as overflow camping. Anthony Creek is a popular destination for trout anglers, and the "Blue Hole" in the creek provides a favorite swimming spot. The campground serves as a gateway to outdoor recreation including the nearby Big Draft Wilderness for more remote exploration. Anthony Creek Trail follows the creek through a narrow valley filled with rhododendron and flowering forest trees, while Blue Bend Loop Trail offers three scenic overlooks. Both trails are recommended for hikers and bird watchers. The Monongahela National Forest encompasses about a million acres and attracts 1.3 million visitors annually. Wildlife in the area includes black bear, coyote, wild turkey, white-tailed deer, red and gray fox, bobcat, fisher, otter, and mink. Round Mountain rises across Anthony Creek from the campground. The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs is a 15-minute drive away.
