About

Fenwick Mines Pavilion is a reservable group picnic shelter situated within the scenic Fenwick Mines Day Use Area in Craig County, at the base of Bald Mountain adjacent to Mill Creek. This covered pavilion provides an ideal setting for outdoor gatherings with ample parking, plenty of picnic tables, and three barbecue grills. The site is part of a larger recreation area formerly used for 19th-century iron mining. The surrounding day-use area offers diverse recreational opportunities. A one-mile wheelchair-accessible trail system winds through wetlands, streams, and forest habitats, leading to Fenwick Falls, a picturesque multi-tiered waterfall. Additional amenities include a small fishing pond stocked for recreational angling, horseshoe pits, and access to the gated Mill Creek Road, popular with mountain bikers and equestrians. The location provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and serves as a gateway to exploring the natural beauty of Jefferson National Forest.
