About

The Narrows Picnic Shelter is located on Barren River Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility in the rolling hills of south central Kentucky. This group shelter provides an ideal base for water-based recreation and lakeside gatherings. The facility is positioned near a marina and boat launch ramp, offering convenient access for anglers and boaters. The natural setting features dramatic limestone cliffs that provide panoramic views of the lake, contrasted by gently sloping shoreline areas lined with weeping willows. Visitors can fish from shore or launch boats to explore quiet fishing spots at Coon, Green, Beaver, or Skaggs Creek. The open waters are suitable for tubing, skiing, and wakeboarding. The Lindsey Nature Trail backs up to the area, where hikers can enjoy cliff-top vistas of the lake. The shelter includes electricity and is available for reservation through Recreation.gov. Located at 2152 Narrows Road in Glasgow, Kentucky, the facility operates seasonally under U.S. Army Corps of Engineers management. Firewood from outside the area is prohibited to prevent the spread of invasive insects and disease, and off-highway vehicles are not permitted.
