About
Teton Canyon Campground is nestled along the banks of Teton Creek in beautiful Teton Canyon at an elevation of 6,500 feet within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest's Teton Basin Ranger District. The campground is cradled by a dense forest of pine, spruce, fir, and occasional aspen, offering partial shade, while its southern loop opens to grassy meadows dotted with summer wildflowers. The towering Teton Range provides a dramatic backdrop to this scenic location.
The campground offers 13 single-family sites and 2 equestrian sites, each equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, grills, and bear-proof food lockers. Gravel roads and parking spurs accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, though there are no hookups or electricity. A horse staging area is located at the trailhead parking area for equestrian campers.
Trails spill out from the campground, leading hikers and backpackers into the adjacent Jedediah Smith Wilderness to destinations like Alaska Basin and Table Mountain. Teton Creek tempts fly-fishermen with brook and Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Moose and deer frequently wander the area. Grand Targhee Resort is just 11 miles away, and both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks are within a few hours drive.
