About
Fort Pillow State Historic Park Campground sits on 1,642 acres along the Chickasaw Bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River in Lauderdale County, Tennessee. The park preserves the site of a controversial Civil War engagement and features an interpretive museum, reconstructed earthworks, and extensive trail system. The recently renovated family campground provides 30 sites in a peaceful forest setting, ranging from full-hookup RV pads to primitive tent sites. The campground offers 15 sites that accommodate RVs and campers with 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical service plus water hookups, with some sites fitting rigs up to 60 feet. Six additional sites have 20-amp electric with water stations nearby, while nine primitive sites cater to tent campers seeking a more rustic experience. Two full-service bathhouses provide private suite-style accommodations with individual toilets, sinks, and hot showers, with one being ADA accessible. A dump station with recycling and gray/black water disposal is located at the campground entrance. Each campsite includes a picnic table, grill/fire ring, and lantern holder. For those seeking solitude, a backcountry campsite on the Blue Chickasaw Bluff Trail requires a one-mile hike. The park's 20 miles of trails offer opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and exploring Civil War history.
