Located 40 miles north of Memphis on the bluffs of the Mississippi River, Fort Pillow State Historic Park Campground provides camping options ranging from full hookup RV sites to backcountry tent camping. The family campground contains 15 RV sites with 20, 30, or 50-amp electrical hookups and water, some accommodating rigs up to 60 feet, plus nine primitive sites with grills, picnic tables, and tent pads. Two full-service accessible bathhouses serve the family campground area. A group campsite on the Red Historic Trail features a large pavilion with bathhouses and can host up to 200 guests, while a designated backcountry site sits on the Blue Chickasaw Bluff Trail less than a mile from the trailhead. The campground operates as a trashcan-free facility with a centrally located dump station, dumpster, and recycling bins at the entrance. Each site includes a picnic table and grill or fire ring. The park sells firewood and permits the use of dead wood found near campsites. The 1,642-acre park encompasses well-preserved Civil War breastworks and a reconstructed fort, a museum with artifacts and interpretive displays, nearly 20 miles of hiking trails, and Fort Pillow Lake offering fishing, boating, and water trails. The park was designated a Wildlife Observation Area and attracts bird watchers year-round.

Directions

From Henning, TN, take Highway 87 west for approximately 16 miles. Turn right onto Crutcher Lake Road, then left onto Park Road 207 to reach the park entrance.
