Dub Patton Campground
Open year-round. Arkabutla Lake is experiencing substantially lower water levels due to long-term dam repairs, affecting boating access. Highway 51 Landing is currently the only open boat ramp. Campground facilities remain operational.
From Recreation.gov
Arkabutla Lake will be experiencing substantially lower water levels for an extended period of time. Long-term repairs to Arkbabutla Dam must be completed before water levels can return to normal. This affects boating access and water-based activities on the lake. Many boat ramps are currently closed with Hwy. 51 Landing being the only open ramp. Most day use and campground facilities remain open for public use. For more information, please contact the Arkabutla Lake Field Office at 662-562-6261 or 662-292-1992. About
Dub Patton Campground is situated on the waterfront of Arkabutla Lake, among rolling hills forested with oak, hickory, beech, sweet gum, and birch trees. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this facility offers 59 family campsites in a predominantly pine-forested setting. Sites feature electric hookups (30A and 50A available) and water hookups, with a dump station at the campground exit. Flush toilets and hot showers are provided. Arkabutla Lake and Dam on the Coldwater River offers some of the best sailing east of the Mississippi River. Anglers come for largemouth bass, bream, catfish, and crappie. The recreation area includes a boat launching ramp, kayak launch, and swimming beach. Wildlife management areas around the lake encompass 30,000 acres of public hunting lands with whitetail deer, wild turkeys, quail, and waterfowl. Several trails wind through the area. The Coldwater River Nature Trail System features two hiking trails plus an interpretive trail, while the Swinging Bridge Nature Trail passes through land that was part of the river channel before the dam was built. The Lost Indian Spring Disc Golf Course with 18 free holes is located below the dam.
Directions
From I-55 take the Coldwater, Mississippi exit and proceed west on Scenic Route 304. Follow the signs to the camping area, located just north of the dam.
