About

Lake Poinsett State Park Campground is nestled atop the scenic rolling hills of Crowley's Ridge in northeast Arkansas, offering a quiet retreat along a 640-acre reservoir. The campground features 29 sites total: four Class A sites with water and 50-amp electric hookups, 22 Class B sites with water and 30-amp hookups, and three tent-only sites. Created in 1960 by damming Distress Creek, the lake provides excellent fishing opportunities for bass, crappie, bream, and catfish in its relatively shallow waters. The park offers year-round camping with modern amenities including restrooms and a heated, air-conditioned pavilion available year-round. Visitors can enjoy boat rentals from the visitor center, including fishing boats with or without motors, canoes, and kayaks. The day-use area features picnic tables, a playground, and an open field. Easy hiking trails and year-round interpretive programs on wildlife and local history enhance the camping experience. The park is located just 3 miles from Harrisburg, making it accessible while maintaining a peaceful, natural setting.
