Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park encompasses 12,539 acres of bottomland hardwood forest along the Mississippi River, offering a natural escape just north of Memphis. The campground provides 49 sites with electric and water hookups, and several sites include full sewer connections. Each site has a picnic table, grill, and fire ring. A modern bathhouse offers hot showers and flush toilets, and drinking water is available throughout the campground. A dump station serves RVs without sewer hookups. The park sits atop the scenic Chickasaw Bluffs and features over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails through cypress swamps and hardwood forests. Poplar Tree Lake provides fishing opportunities and boat rentals. Wildlife viewing is excellent, with abundant deer, wild turkeys, and diverse bird species. The park also offers six vacation cabins along the lake and three primitive group camping areas. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance through the Tennessee State Parks reservation system. Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at noon. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights, extended to 28 nights from December 1 through February. Only certified heat-treated firewood is permitted to prevent spread of invasive pests.

Directions

From Memphis, take I-40 West to Exit 2A (US-51 North/Millington). Continue north on US-51 for approximately 13 miles. Turn left onto Locke Cuba Road, then right onto Bluff Road. Follow Bluff Road to Riddick Road and the park entrance.
