From Recreation.gov

Arkabutla Lake will be experiencing substantially lower water levels for an extended period of time. Long-term repairs to Arkbabutla Dam must be completed before water levels can return to normal. This affects boating access and water-based activities on the lake. Many boat ramps are currently closed with Hwy. 51 Landing being the only open ramp. Most day use and campground facilities remain open for public use. For more information, please contact the Arkabutla Lake Field Office at 662-562-6261 or 662-292-1992. About

South Abutment Pavilion sits along Arkabutla Lake and Dam in the hills of northwest Mississippi. The facility is primarily designed for day use, featuring two pavilions, restrooms, a playground, and ample parking. Positioned on a bluff overlooking the dam structure and lake, the area provides scenic views and includes numerous picnic tables and grills throughout. While the main purpose is day use, the facility also offers two group campsites (South Abutment 821 and 734) classified as Group Standard Electric sites, allowing overnight camping with electric hookups. The Coldwater River dam project offers some of the best sailing east of the Mississippi River, though current dam repairs have resulted in substantially lower water levels affecting boating access. Arkabutla Lake is situated about 30 minutes south of Memphis. For those seeking more extensive camping options, three Class A campgrounds nearby support RVs and tent camping with full hookups, plus three primitive campgrounds for tent camping only.
