About
Abrams Creek Campground offers a secluded camping experience in one of the more remote areas of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Located at 1,125 feet elevation along beautiful Abrams Creek, this intimate 16-site campground attracts visitors seeking solitude and exceptional trout fishing away from the park's busier areas. The peaceful sounds of rippling water provide a natural soundtrack for your stay. The campground serves as an excellent base for hiking, with the Little Bottoms Trail providing an 8-mile round-trip route to Abrams Falls. Several loop hikes are available from the campground and nearby ranger station for those who prefer not to retrace their steps. Anglers consider Abrams Creek one of the best trout fishing destinations in the Smokies, with fly fishing particularly productive during spring when aquatic insects hatch. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with black bears, white-tailed deer, and diverse bird species commonly spotted. The narrow, winding approach road makes this campground best suited for tent campers and small vehicles. RVs and trailers up to 12 feet are technically allowed but not recommended. Flush toilets and potable water are available when the campground is open, but there are no hookups or showers. Advance reservations are required through Recreation.gov. Nearby attractions include the famous Dragon on US-129, Foothills Parkway, Chilhowee Lake, and Cades Cove.
