About
Temples Lake Park is a day-use recreation area located on the southern shore of Belton Lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The park features over 60 picnic sites and one reservable group area that can accommodate up to 80 people. The 12,300-acre Belton Lake was created in 1954 with the construction of Belton Dam and provides some of the best fishing and boating in Central Texas. The park offers two two-lane boat ramps for easy lake access, a designated swim beach for summer recreation, and excellent fishing opportunities for popular species including hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, and sunfish. On-site amenities include flush toilets, showers, a playground, volleyball and basketball courts. The facility sits directly on the lakeshore with mostly open, sunny spaces occasionally dotted with trees. Wildlife viewing opportunities include deer, turkey, and other small game. The park operates seasonally from March 1 through September 30 with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. During winter months (October 1 through February 28), one boat ramp and fishing area remain open. Entry is first-come, first-served based on parking availability. Day-use fees apply and can be paid via the Recreation.gov mobile app. Glass containers are not allowed. No camping is permitted at this facility.
