About

Dana Peak Campground sits on a peninsula along the shoreline of Stillhouse Hollow Lake, a 6,430-acre reservoir created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1968. The campground is one of only two reservable facilities on the lake and tends to fill up on summer weekends. Most sites are positioned right at the water's edge, offering direct access to swimming, fishing, and boating. The facility provides 17 single and 3 double RV sites with 50-amp electric and potable water hookups, 5 tent sites with electric and water, and 8 primitive tent-only sites. Amenities include a waterborne restroom with flush toilets and showers, a dump station near the camping area entrance, a swim beach, and a four-lane boat ramp with courtesy dock. The surrounding terrain is mostly flat and grassy with minimal shade. Birding opportunities abound, with hawks, Great Blue herons, ducks, geese, songbirds, bobwhite quail, Rio Grande turkey, and occasional bald eagles. The nearby Dana Peak Trails offer hiking, biking, and horseback riding just outside the park entrance.

Directions

From Interstate 35 in Belton, Texas, take Highway 190 west to the Simmons Road exit. Cross under the highway and turn west on Farm-to-Market Road 2410. Turn left (south) on Comanche Gap Road and drive five miles to the park.
