About

Cedar Ridge Park Campground is located on the northern side of Belton Lake, a 12,300-acre reservoir created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1954. This year-round facility accommodates both tent and RV campers across 76 campsites, all equipped with water and electric hookups, covered picnic tables, and charcoal grills. The campground also offers unique screened shelter sites for those without camping equipment. The park is divided into two sections. The east side features a 2-lane boat ramp with courtesy dock, designated swim beach, playground, and basketball court, though this section closes seasonally from November 1 to March 1. The west side remains open year-round and includes a day use area with another 2-lane boat ramp, an on-site marina offering fuel and basic supplies, two large group pavilions, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. A group camping area called Turkey Roost provides 10 sites surrounding a large pavilion. Amenities include seven restroom buildings with flush toilets, sinks, and hot showers, two RV dump stations, hiking trails, and on-site volunteer hosts. The partially forested campground offers a mix of sun and shade, with some sites directly on the lakeshore and others a short walk away. The scenic white limestone bluffs of Cedar Creek and abundant spring wildflowers add to the natural beauty. Wildlife viewing opportunities include white-tailed deer, Rio Grande turkey, bobwhite quail, great blue herons, and occasional bald eagles along the lake's 136 miles of shoreline.

Directions

From Interstate 35 in Temple, Texas take State Highway 36 west towards Gatesville. Turn left on Cedar Ridge Park Road and continue into the park and campground area.
