About
Live Oak Ridge Campground is located at Belton Lake near Belton Dam, offering year-round camping in Central Texas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this campground has 48 sites that accommodate both tents and RVs. All sites include water and electric hookups, covered picnic tables, and charcoal grills. The campground lives up to its name with large oak trees providing pleasant shade throughout the park, though some sites offer sun exposure. Several campsites overlook the 12,300-acre lake, while others are a short walk away. Facilities include two restroom buildings with sinks, flush toilets, and showers, a multi-lane boat ramp with courtesy dock, a playground, and an activity center available for on-site reservation. A dump station with non-potable water is located in the park. On-site volunteer hosts and maintenance staff are available to assist campers. Springtime brings abundant wildflowers that blanket areas of the park. Belton Lake, created in 1954 with the construction of Belton Dam, features 136 miles of shoreline and offers excellent fishing, boating, and water recreation. Hiking trails are available at the adjacent Miller Springs Nature Area. Wildlife viewing opportunities include white-tailed deer, hawks, great blue herons, ducks, geese, songbirds, bobwhite quail, Rio Grande turkey, and occasional bald eagles. The campground is adjacent to Fort Hood Army Base, and a historical mural depicting Bell County history is painted on the Belton Dam spillway wall.
Directions
