About

Temple Mountain Campground West sits at the base of Temple Mountain in Utah's San Rafael Swell Recreation Area. This primitive BLM campground provides convenient access to off-roading and wilderness recreation in a scenic, quiet desert setting. From the campground, visitors can hike to reclaimed uranium mines, drive a short distance to the Temple Mountain Pictograph Panel, or explore the longer North Temple Wash loop. The campground features 10 sites including 9 individual sites and 1 group site, all equipped with fire rings and picnic tables. A large shade structure with four picnic tables provides a communal gathering area. Two vault toilets serve the campground. The facility accommodates large recreational vehicles with multiple parking areas designed for RV camping. The San Rafael Swell's dramatic landscape surrounds the campground, with The Reef forming a 75-mile rocky spine reaching up to 1,000 feet high along the eastern edge. The area provides access to scenic slot canyons, hills, and spires carved from red and white rock formations.
