About
Huckleberry Campground is a BLM-managed riverside facility located 29 miles east of St. Maries on the St. Joe River Road. The campground features 33 RV sites: 30 single sites with paved parking spurs and 3 larger group sites with gravel parking. All sites include electric and water hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings. Single sites accommodate up to 4 registered vehicles and 15 people, while group sites can handle up to 12 vehicles and 25 people. The campground provides six concrete vault toilets, on-site hosts, an RV dump station (for overnight guests only), and an undeveloped non-motorized boat ramp with adjacent day-use parking. Recreational amenities include horseshoe pits and easy river access for fishing and floating. Huckleberry's location makes it a central hub for recreationists exploring the St. Joe River corridor between Calder and Avery. The area is popular with anglers targeting westslope cutthroat trout, floaters enjoying summer river trips, and hunters and ATV users accessing the extensive network of Forest Service and Idaho Department of Lands roads. The clear-water St. Joe River offers year-round fishing with peak season from June through September, and is ideal for tube floating in mid-summer.
Directions
