About

Taylor Pond Campground sits on an 813-acre lake in Clinton County, nestled in the northern Adirondack Park. Managed by the New York State DEC, this primitive campground provides 30 sites: 25 drive-in sites and 5 boat-access interior sites that include 3 lean-to structures and 2 tent-only sites. The campground accommodates RVs up to 30 feet. The facility is intentionally rustic, with pit toilets (outhouses) and water spigots scattered throughout. There are no showers, flush toilets, or hookups. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Firewood is available for purchase, and canoe and rowboat rentals provide easy access to the water. Taylor Pond is a destination for anglers targeting lake trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, and Atlantic salmon. The boat launch near the entrance offers the only public access to the pond. Nearby hiking includes trails at Catamount Mountain and Silver Lake Mountain, with the High Peaks region a short drive away.

Directions

From Ausable Forks, take Route 9N northwest. Turn onto Silver Lake Road and continue approximately 9 miles to the campground entrance at 1865 Silver Lake Road.
