Cumberland Bay State Park is a 350-acre destination located on the Cumberland Head peninsula on the western shore of Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, New York. The park is highly popular with both campers and day-users, drawing visitors with its expansive 2,700-foot natural sand beach, one of the finest swimming areas on Lake Champlain. The campground features 152 campsites distributed across four loops (100, 200, 300, and 400), with varying levels of amenities. The 100, 200, and 300 loops offer electric hookups and operate from mid-May through mid-October, while the 400 loop runs from late May through August. Some sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 50 feet in length. Each campsite includes a table and fire pit, and the campground provides modern shower facilities and flush toilets. Beyond camping, the park offers excellent day-use facilities including picnic areas with tables and grills, a playground, and playing fields. Cross-country runners frequently use the park in the fall. The park also features a rental pavilion that can accommodate up to 50 people. Cumberland Bay State Park is open seasonally from mid-May through Columbus Day, with vehicle entrance fees collected during operating hours.
